Many years ago I took the oath to defend this country from enemies, both foreign and domestic. At that point I don't think I really understood what it meant. I now feel a responsibility to discuss what I see happening.

We have a domestic enemy, I don't know exactly who started it, but I do feel that labels are what allowed it to progress so rapidly. People love to put labels on things. It makes it convenient to group everyone with a label and stop thinking. This is just what it is, a tool to reduce cognitive load. If you can label someone as something, then you don't need to consider the complexity of their character and thought. It makes in-group/out-group thinking much easier and causes a lot of the divide we see today, either with the rioters or in political circles.

I believe in liberty. The idea that you should be able to do whatever you want, as long as what you do does not cause harm to others. If it does cause harm, you should be held accountable. This is the purpose of the government, to hold those accountable that violate other's liberty. They are the only ones collectively granted the power to enforce law. If individuals take this power into their own hands the system breaks down. And if you think the system needs to break down, then prove to me that there is a better system, a system that has raised billions of people from poverty. A system that is more inclusive, progressive, diverse or technologically advanced.

The political class has sowed these lies of discontent, in the pursuit of power (it's all about power and identity politics is a favorite tactic). Has put the labels out and with social media, there are just too many that are happy to be "true believers". Don't believe the labels. I know no one that doesn't believe black lives matter, as well as all other lives - again back to liberty (resist the urge to label me). These tactics are well known tactics of class warfare sown throughout history.

Believe in love. The golden rule. Do onto others as you'd have them do to you. You don't solve racism with more racism, more labels. Try to see through what is going on, do the work to have an opinion. Have an openness to truth. As soon as you label something, you've stopped your understanding. It feels good to think you know, resist that desire, and try to fully understand. Ask questions and try to drop your concepts, categories, prejudices, projections. Seek the truth!
